Mme.Cox’s class is leading ‘Money for McMurray’ in support of the Fort McMurray Disaster Relief Fund. The continuing natural disaster forced Alberta to call a state of emergency last Wednesday after more than 88,000 people were displaced from their homes in and around the Fort McMurray area.
Next week, each classroom will challenge its students to donate $1.00. Mme. Cox’s students want to remind everyone that a dollar can be made many different ways, for example, collecting 4 quarters, 20 nickels, 10 dimes, etc.
Money will be collected and donated to the Red Cross through the Waterloo Education Foundation Inc. The Canadian Federal Government has made a commitment to match all donations that are directed through the Canadian Red Cross.
